Cottagecam was created to address a need for a large inventory of aerial
photographs of lakefront cottage and resort properties for both personal
and commercial use. Individual custom aerial photographs of
cottage properties are very costly, requiring aircraft rentals and
extended travel time for photographers. By capturing photographs in
bulk, and delivering them in digital format via the Internet, Cottagecam
is able to drastically lower the cost of photos to under $40 CAD per
picture. To view our current inventory of photos,
visit our aerial photo maps page.
For cottage owners, we offer an affordable way to purchase an aerial
image of your cottage and surrounding area. Aerial imagery of cottages
provides a unique perspective on a familiar place for owners, and serve
as visual reminders of treasured family memories and experiences.
For real estate brokers, agents, and private renters and tenants who
participate in the cottage industry, we hope our website will be of
value to you in marketing your property or locating property to rent or
purchase, depending on which end of the transaction you happen to be on.
We provide users not only an image of a target property, but images of
surrounding areas, and some indication of location on each specific
lake. Our maps provide further helpful information regarding local
amenities. Cottagecam will also be offering real estate sales and rental
listings starting in December 2005. We are currently accepting listings
free of charge for the first 3 months (December 1, 2005- February 28, 2006).
Thereafter, listings will cost $ 40 per year. For more information or to
add a listing, visit our listings
page.
Our inventory totals in excess of 13,000 images across 17 different
lakes in the Muskoka region of Southern Ontario, approximately 90
minutes drive from Toronto. As well, we have a limited inventory of
aerial photographs from Lake Simcoe centered on Big Bay Point. Obtaining
a large inventory of shoreline property is a complex, time consuming and
expensive process. We are still refining our processes both in obtaining
the inventory and cataloguing it in our growing database of images and
maps. We do not currently use GPS technology and therefore, we cannot
guarantee complete accuracy. In fact, we can safely say that there are a
few specific areas on some of the more ‘involved lakes’ (Lake Muskoka,
for instance) that may require some reorganizing. We welcome any and all
feedback and comments from our users to help
us identify any inaccuracies.
We also encourage any users who are unable to locate a specific property
to advise us. We will attempt to fill in any gaps each season and advise
you once we have obtained an image of your property. Similarly, if you
locate your property but do not like the image, we will make best
efforts to obtain another image.
If we do not currently have you lake on our site, please
e-mail us and tell us where
you lake is and we will put it on our ‘To do’ list. For 2006, we aim to
increase our library to 50,000 images, including the balance of the Muskoka Region, Haliburton and the Kawarthas, Bancroft, and portions of
Georgian Bay.
We hope you enjoy your visit.
